This year’s rodeo has come and gone, but there are still plenty of other upcoming events to get excited about over the rest of 2024 in Mount Isa. Here’s a guide to what’s happening and when to help you plan ahead.

2024 Mount Isa Motor Show (August)

This year’s annual car-lover’s event will be held at Buchanan Park on Sunday August 25 from 10am to 2pm. It’s a great chance to check out some classic vehicles and meet fellow enthusiasts.

2024 RFDS Mount Isa Hangar Ball (September)

This year’s annual Royal Flying Doctor Service Ball will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Mt Isa base. It will be held onsite at the base at 11 Barkly Hwy on Saturday September 14 from 6.30 to 10pm.

Eat, drink and dance the night away among RFDS aircraft and help to support this crucial 24/7 service. The RFDS delivered more than 4,000 patient consultations and transported more than 1,000 patients over the last year alone.

Mount Isa Mines Moonlight Cinema (September)

This family-friendly event gives you a chance to watch a movie under the stars with your family and friends on Saturday 21 September from 7 to 10pm. Make sure you take a picnic blanket, camping chairs and snacks to experience the magic of outdoor cinema.

2024 Ride for Pink (October)

This year’s annual event for motorbike enthusiasts to raise much-needed funds for breast cancer will be held on Saturday October 13 from 8.30am to 12 noon, starting at Outback at Isa in Marian Street.

Registration cost is $25 for riders and $15 for passengers over the age of 15. Passengers under the age of 15 are free. All participants are encouraged to dress in pink and raise as much funds as possible for this very worthy cause.

2024 Northwest Fishing Classic (October)

This popular week-long annual event will be held this year from Friday October 18 to Saturday October 26 at the idyllic Lake Moondarra. Both catch and release and casting competitions will be held.

Mount Isa Mines Concert for Cause (October)

This event will be held on Saturday October 19 from 6 to 11.30 pm. It will showcase local talent and all proceeds from the night will be donated to a local charity. It’s another opportunity to put on your dancing shoes.

Mount Isa International Men’s Day Dinner (October)

This year’s popular annual event celebrating all things good about men will be held on Saturday October 26 at Buchanan Park from 6pm to 11 pm. There will be plenty of great food, beverages and music on what is always an enjoyable night.

Northern Outback Business Awards (November)

This annual event hosted by the Commerce North West celebrates the achievements of our local businesses. This year’s awards will be held on Saturday November 2. Further information on the Outback Business Awards, including information about award categories and how to nominate is available online. Tickets to the event will be available during October.

Mount Isa Mines Community Christmas (December)

This year’s Mt Isa Mines Christmas celebration will also commemorate the centenary of our famous mine that commenced operating in 1924.
