We know the value of a good meal, an air conditioned place to sit (we’re not going to deny it’s hot up here), and somewhere to relax with family and friends. We might be almost 2000km from Brisbane, but when you’re in Mount Isa you’re not going to have trouble finding a decent pub meal.
The Isa Hotel
Breakfast, lunch or dinner, the Isa Hotel menu has you covered. Yes, breakfast as well. If you’ve moved here from the city, getting brekky at the pub may be somewhat strange, but the Isa Hotel puts on a great breakfast menu, with everything from the traditional big brekky to a continental breakfast board. A staple in the city since 1926, there’s also some great lunch and dinner meals, and if steaks are your thing, you won’t be disappointed.
If you prefer something a little lighter, the Cocktail Lounge is open for dinner with a range of tapas and cocktails.
You can find the Isa Hotel on Miles Street, just minutes from the centre of town.

Mount Isa Irish Club
Back on the 17th March 1955 at the second annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner at the old Argent Hotel, a group of Irishmen sat around discussing the possibility of establishing an Irish club in Mount Isa – and here we are. The Mount Isa Irish Club is more than a pub or bar though, with accommodation and a health and fitness centre accompanying the Piano Bar, the nightclub, the Deck, the Blarney Bar, the bingo hall and the gaming room.
Then we get to the dining side, with breakfast and an all-day menu at the Tram Stop Cafe, dinner at Keanes Bar & Grill and a buffet on Friday and Sunday nights. If you’re looking for plant based meals, there’s a nice little selection on the menu.
You’ll find the Mount Isa Irish Club on 19th Avenue.

The beer is cold, the meals are affordable (and a good size) and the steaks are good. If a counter meal and a game of pool is more your style, the Public Bar a great stop, and the restaurant is a good choice for your classic pub meals.
The Mount Isa locals are friendly, and if you’re after a yarn, you’ll certainly find someone here willing to have a chat.
